The Criminal Investigation Department of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) has revealed the circumstances surrounding a murder that occurred in the Shafa Badran area in Amman early Sunday morning.

According to a statement from the Directorate's spokesperson, a report was received in the early hours of Sunday about a fire breaking out in a building under construction in Shafa Badran. Civil defense and police units were dispatched to the scene to handle the fire.

While extinguishing the blaze, responders discovered a burned body. After an examination by a forensic doctor, it was confirmed that the victim had been subjected to violence and stabbed before being set on fire.

A joint investigation team from the Criminal Investigation Department and North Amman Police Directorate was formed to pursue the case.

The spokesperson stated that the investigation team, through evidence collection and information gathered at the crime scene, identified a suspect who worked as a guard for the building under construction. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to stabbing the victim following a sudden dispute and then setting the fire.

The case will be referred to the public prosecutor for the Grand Criminal Court.
